The International Centre for Environmental Health and Development (ICEHD) participated in the Lagos Climate Data Reporting Hub Capacity Building organised by the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, Climate Change and Environmental Planing department on 16 September 2026.
The capacity-building brought together government stakeholders and Civil society organizations to strengthen understanding of climate data collection, greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories, emissions reporting and the Global Protocol for Community-Scale GHG Emission Inventories (GPC).
The sessions highlighted the importance of reliable, transparent and well-documented data in understanding Lagos’ emissions profile, strengthening climate planning, supporting evidence-based decision-making and improving access to climate finance.
Participants also explored the development of the Lagos Climate Knowledge Hub, a platform designed to improve access to climate-related data, research, training materials and other resources while encouraging greater collaboration among stakeholders.
Representing ICEHD, Victor Adewoye contributed to the discussions, including questions around data privacy, user engagement and the long-term sustainability of the platform.
ICEHD remains committed to supporting evidence-based climate action, environmental sustainability and stronger collaboration among stakeholders working towards a climate-resilient Lagos.
