OUR OBJECTIVES

  • Research, monitor and document practices and policies that influence health and development
  • ADVANCE the rights of vulnerable women and girls, including returnees, to build their capacity to improve their status, improve their reproductive health, their right to economic and political participation and development.
  • STRENGTHEN the role of healthcare providers, the law and its institutions in promoting the right to health and development, and coordinating the efforts of government agencies responsible for promoting human health and a clean environment.
  • EXPAND and enhance the capacity of local women, girls, women groups and communities to access and participate in the design and implementation of policies and programs that affect their health and development.
  • Provide legal assistance and support public interest litigation
  • UTILIZE national, regional and International human rights mechanism to promote human health and the quality of life.
  • PROMOTE the right to health and development and provide public access to understandable and useful information to improve health and environmental conditions

OUR STRATEGY

Our key strategies include the global agenda and the Nigerian National Policy for health, environment and development, which informs our vision, objectives, core values and mission. Other strategies include implementation (which involves research, monitoring and documentation, advocacy, policy reform, education and training, intervention in provision of facilities and economic empowerment, litigation and collaboration), performance measures (which includes project monitoring and evaluation) and accountability (reproting, auditing).These are strategies used in achieving our mission which we undertake through our thematic programs listed above.

IMPLEMENTATION APPROACH

Research Monitoring and Documentation

We research, monitor and document health practices and identify violations of the right to health.

Advocacy

Engage institutions and government agencies in outreach and advocacy programs.

Policy Reform

We engage policy officials at local, state, and national levels to reform policies and enact legislation on pertinent issues.

Education and Training

We conduct capacity building programs, training workshops, and educational initiatives for healthcare personnel, vulnerable women, and community groups.

Interventions and Economic Empowerment

We undertake interventions related to environment, health, and development, and engage in sustainable community projects such as water sanitation and vocational skills training.

Litigation

We provide legal counseling and support public interest litigation for marginalized groups to assert their rights.

Collaboration

We develop partnerships with local and international organizations and mobilize communities to demand accountability for human rights violations.
